Guernsey roadworks
Stats and hotspots
Where do the roadworks actually go, and who is doing them? Step through months, seasons or school terms, or pick your own dates. The heat map, counts, busiest promoters, most closed roads and the school calendar all follow the same period.
Heat map
Brighter where the plotted notices overlap. Choose what each notice weighs, and narrow the map to one promoter or to road closures only.

Most closed roads
The roads with the most closure notices in the selected period. Open the details to see the dates and stated reasons.
No road closures to show for this period.
Top promoters
The organisations behind the most notices in the selected period. Open the details to see what each one has been doing, where and why.
No promoters to show for this period.
Activity through the period
Notices active on each day of the period.
Road closed by promoter
Length of road under each organisation's closure notices in this period. Extents added together, so a road under two notices counts twice.
Longest closures
The closure notices covering the most road.
Longest running works
Notices of any type with the most days from start to end, whether or not all of those days fall in this period.
Notices by type
How the period's notices split by traffic measure, in the map's colours, with the road length under each.
Parishes, per mile of road
Each parish ranked by the share of its own road network under closure notices in this period, so a parish with few roads is neither flattered nor punished by its size. Parish road networks were measured from OpenStreetMap on 07/10/2026: every drivable public road, 456 km island wide, with service roads, tracks and paths left out.
School term dates
Guernsey terms differ from the UK. Rows that overlap the selected period are highlighted, so you can see whether the works land in term time or the holidays.
Pupil dates for States schools, from the States of Guernsey term dates page.
Who is responsible
Temporary road closures on Guernsey's public roads are coordinated and permitted by Traffic and Highway Services, part of the States of Guernsey Committee for the Environment & Infrastructure. The committee's President, the deputy politically accountable for this area, has been Deputy Adrian Gabriel since July 2025. Periods on this page before July 2025 predate his presidency. The individual works shown here are carried out by the promoters listed above, not by the committee.
